Vanilla Sky.
This Photograph was taken in the morning time , just behind where I live in Cree.
Way behind to the right of the trees lie the Slieve Bloom mountains, almost out of sight. You would be looking south eastwards from the point where I was standing.
The title of this photograph comes from a memory I have of that film of the same name , which was in the cinema a few years back. The opening sequence and the closing " dream" scenes, one of which referenced the title " Vanilla sky" , were probably ones that stick in the memory. To me the film has an overriding lesson , which is of America losing its grip on reality and getting comfort on unrealistic promises and expectations.
The so called "American Dream" which eveything is great as long as the money is pouring in , in reality becomes the "American nightmare"
A little about the Slieve Bloom mountains , at their highest they stand at 527 metres , which is not that huge . There are great mountain biking trails going through them, and they can be accessed from Kinnitty and another near Mountrath.
The Slieve Blooms are one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe.
I hope to take more photos of these mountains in the future and put them up on this site.
