Not for the faint hearted the waves that are blown in from the ATLANTIC OCEAN are particulary fiesty, but it is ideal for surfers and the like. THIS PHOTOGRAPH captures the surfing school in action as they prepare to take to the waves , some maybe for the first time and best of luck to them. But as you cann see in the picture they are being keenly watched by their instructor who is making sure that they are learning the ropes properly and will be safe when the embark on their surfboards.Located 8km west of Sligo town, Strandhill Beach has fantastic views of Knocknarea, Benbulben, Sligo bay and Coney Island.
The beach is extremely popular with surfers and is renowned in Europe as one of the best surfing experiences around.
Strandhill village runs along the beachfront and has resturants , pubs and cafes. It has a large golf course and a good size camping park.
