Image of a Robin
I captured this Robin on top of a rusty bar that I had been using as a marker for making one of my raised flower beds.
A curious facts or myths about Robins, when people ask why they are so much associated with Christmas, as so many Christmas cards have a Robin on them. Well seemingly in Victorian times in Britain, postmen were wearing red uniforms and got the nickname "robins" as the colour red was so predominant.
However , there is some evidence that says the association with Christmas goes back to the time of Jesus , when as the crucifixion was taking place, a Robin approached Jesus on the cross and pulled a thorn from the crown on his head to ease the pain.
Another story has it that after Jesus was born in the manger in Bethlehem, a fire started and a brave Robin put his body in between the fire and Jesus and that's how it got the red breast.
