Product Description
Clouds come in many differing shapes and sizes, and can usually foretell what sort of weather is on the way. This Image is of Altostratus clouds. They are a mid - altidude cloud made up of water droplets, ice crystals or a mixture of the two. These clouds usually predict the arrival of warm fronts. Once these clouds arrive with a warm front , rain usually follows or in winter snow could fall. The rainfall amount may not be much but there could be embedded thunderstorms in them , causing heavy showers. These clouds along with Cirrus clouds are supposed to have a global heating upon the Earth, more associated with Global warming.
Altostratus clouds can produce bright halos when viewed from the air but not from the ground. Halos can take the appearance of arcs, rings or spots of multicoloured light . This is caused by ice crystals embedded in the clouds.
Light diffraction through the Altostratus clouds can also produce Coronas which can be iridescent, almost eye like, which can be seen from the Earths surface.
This Image comes in 3 different sizes, including a Canvas option.
