Only since the 1940's has their been a major improvement in the way this museum and church have integrated together to form a cultural and learning facility for the area regarding Maritime history and artifacts.People from all over now visit here and it's a major tourist attraction! It has a captivatng collection of boats , offering a rich exploration of naval history of Ireland. Its housed in the 180 year old Mariners Church and easily accessible by DART suburban train and several bus services.
It was opened in 1978 and is located between the seafront and the center of Dun Laoighre town , southeast of Dublin City.
President Michael D. Higgins offically re-opened the museum in 2012.
